The Local Area

Georgeham is a delightful Devon village and the place where Henry Williamson wrote "Tarka The Otter". Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just inland from Croyde and Putsborough, you will be close to miles of golden sand, rocky coves, amazing surf, and the coastal path with stunning views. Inland also has its own hidden corners with delightful wooded valleys, rivers and walks.

Georgeham itself has everything a village needs to thrive - an excellent shop and Post Office, two great pubs and a vibrant parish church.

You can enjoy surfing, kite surfing, kayaking, swimming, walking, biking, coasteering, rock climbing (indoors and on the cliffs), horse riding, golf, nature trails or simply lazing on the beach making sand castles. There are sailing trips to Lundy Island, gardens, museums, National Trust properties and land, family activity centres, go-carting, off-road centres, leisure centres, and much more.- the opportunities are endless!

We are just a mile and a half from the South West Coastal Path, the Tarka Trail, and National Cycle Network Route 27 which passes through Georgeham.

Nearby Beaches

- Croyde is one of the UK's top surfing beaches. Just over 2 miles to the car park. The centre of Croyde is about 1 1/2 miles down the road.

- Putsborough/Woolacombe Beach has two miles of wide sandy beach. 1 1/2 miles by road to the Putsborough car park and 3 miles to Woolacombe. Or you can walk via Pickwell along footpaths and a quiet back road.

- Barricane and Grunda are two smaller beaches just beyond Woolacombe on the way to Mort Point, another lovely headland.

- Saunton Sands is over 4 miles of wide sandy beach backed by the extensive Braunton Burows sand dunes and leading to the isolated and atmospheric Crow Point on the Taw estuary. 2 miles to the nearest car park by road via Croyde, or an energetic walk over the hills.

The village car park where you can leave your car is right opposite and free.

The Georgeham Stores and Post Office is right next door and well stocked.

There are two very friendly pubs with excellent food within very easy walking distance, The Kings Arms and The Rock

There are two "very much alive" churches: St Georges Parish Church just a minute's walk away, and Croyde Baptist a mile down the road. Plus there is a christian outdoor centre and the three together form our Church in the Community.

The local garage can carry out repairs.

Pickwell Manor is a very special wedding venue and we can cater for guests.

Other areas of interest

Baggy Point is the headland between Croyde and Putsborough with cliffs and caves at the end. Owned by the National Trust, there is a level and easy walk to the end, and the more adventurous can enjoy a longer and less populated circular walk. Enjoy views out to Lundy Island on the hozrizon and a cream tea back at the car park.

Braunton Burrows is the largest sand dune system in England and Britain's first UNESCO biosphere reserve.

Exmoor is about 30 min drive.

Braunton, Barnstaple and Ilfracombe all have a range of shops, eating places and leisure facilities.
